All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure were they feel one is required. Your health care professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our Chaperone Policy.
A chaperones role can be considered in any of the following areas:-
- Emotional comfort and reassurance
- Assist in an examination (i.e. during IUCD insertion)
- Assist in undressing
- Protection to the health care professional against allegations or attack
We have fully trained chaperones at Sandy Lane and if you wish to have a one present during your consultation please mention this to one of our reception team when booking your appointment, or to the doctor at your consultation, and it will be arranged.
